1993 Mazda RX-7 Touring: Mazda Gem of the Day
This 1993 Mazda RX-7 Touring for sale in Miami, FL, is today’s gem. It features just 37k miles on its odometer and had a recent engine reseal and a new clutch installed.
Finished in Montego Blue with tan leather interior, this 1993 Mazda RX-7 Touring edition boasts one of the most unique color combinations offered from the factory.
It’s a two-owner car, with the second owner buying the car in 1996 and owning it for more than 25 years.
Equipment includes a functioning power sunroof, fog lights, air conditioning, pop-up headlights, a rear wiper and a power antenna.
Considering it is original and 30 years old, the paint is in good shape: the paint meter shows 2-6mm paint thickness on all panels. There are a few minor dents on the door and some rock chips on the front fascia, among other fine scratches typical on a car of this age with original paint.
Factory 16″ five-spoke alloy wheels are wrapped in 225/50 Michelin tires showing 2018 production codes. Disc brakes provide braking power at all four corners. The car’s underside is immaculate: the plating on the bolts is gorgeous, the jack points are all intact, and there is no rust.
The car’s interior is all original. The seating surfaces are upholstered in factory tan leather with a matching headliner, door panels and carpets.
The driver’s bolster shows minor wear but is not cut, ripped or stained. The door cards show nicely, and all power controls are functional. Cabin amenities include power windows, air conditioning and cruise control.
The air conditioning has been converted from the original R12 to R134a and blows ice cold. As is quite common with Bose-equipped FD RX-7s, the stereo does not play through the front speakers, and the factory CD player is inoperable.
A leather-wrapped airbag-equipped steering wheel frames a central tachometer with an 8,000-RPM redline and a 180-mph speedometer. The digital odometer indicates 37k miles.
The 1993 Mazda RX-7’s twin-turbocharged 1.3-liter Wankel rotary was factory rated at 255 horsepower and 217 lb-ft of torque. This car’s PCM was repaired under a recall in 2000, and the most recent oil change was performed in February 2021.
An engine-out service was recently conducted with receipt. The engine-out service included a complete engine reseal and a new OEM clutch installation. The car is entirely stock except for a catless downpipe and an HKS cat-back exhaust system.
Both turbos in the sequential twin-turbo setup engage as they should, and the car pulls to its 8k-RPM redline without hesitation in each gear. Shifting through the five forward gears is smooth and precise.
There are no warning lights displayed in the gauge cluster. At this time, the car currently needs nothing but a new caretaker.
This 1993 Mazda RX-7 Touring comes with a clean title, service receipts and clean carfax vehicle history report.
