2025 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid Specs Revealed

As expected in our previous CX-50 Hybrid coverage, the new 2025 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid crossover makes use of a Toyota hybrid powertrain featuring a 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated inline four-cylinder, three electric motors, a hybrid EV battery, an electronically-controlled continuously variable transmission (eCVT), and standard electric AWD (eAWD). This powertrain is based on the same one utilized in the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, and its power output is identical to the Toyota model, at 219 horsepower.

Its EPA-estimated 38 MPG combined gas mileage rating is impressive, as it’s roughly 40% improved compared to non-turbo, non-hybrid CX-50 2.5 S base model, featuring a naturally aspirated Skyactiv-G 2.5-liter engine.

While the hybrid setup may be sourced from its corporate partner, Toyota, the CX-50 Hybrid powertrain has been tuned by Mazda engineers to deliver the responsive driving dynamics of the gas-powered CX-50 SUVs and other driver-focused Mazda models. Calibrations by the team of Mazda engineers include heavily tuned drive modes like Trail and Power for a more responsive and thrilling experience whether accelerating out of twisty corners or taking your CX-50 Hybrid off-roading.

The Mazda CX-50 Hybrid towing capacity reaches 1,500 pounds, the lowest of the CX-50 line. Still, it’s enough for what this adventurous hybrid crossover SUV is designed for: active lifestyles and outdoor exploration. So, you’ll be able to haul small personal watercraft (PWC) or other lightweight weekend toys, mountain bikes, kayaks, and more.

Select From Three CX-50 Hybrid Trim Levels & Design

Distinctive wheel designs, subtle styling tweaks, a revised lower front bumper, and a new interior color help set the Mazda CX-50 Hybrid model apart from others in the 2025 CX-50 lineup. A new red leather interior is offered, as are three trim levels that closely mimic those of the gas-powered CX-50 crossover SUVs.

The entry-level CX-50 Hybrid Preferred is highlighted by 17-inch Hybrid-specific alloy wheels finished in black, a power rear liftgate, and a 10.25-inch infotainment display.

The next-level CX-50 Hybrid Premium trim adds leather seating surfaces finished in red or black, a one-touch power sliding panoramic moonroof, an upgraded 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, and distinctive black exhaust pipes and black roof rails.

The range-topping edition of the new Mazda CX-50 Hybrid, the CX-50 Hybrid Premium Plus, wears larger 19-inch Hybrid wheels with a striking machine-polished and black finish, ventilated leather front seats, and bright roof rails and tailpipes.

More to Come on the New CX-50 Hybrid SUV Lineup
