New Mazda CX-50 Colors: A Complete Guide
The latest iteration of the adventurous CX-50 compact crossover SUV has arrived, along with the efficiency-enhanced CX-50 Hybrid, so if you’re looking to upgrade to one of these SUVs, the next step is to choose from the new Mazda CX-50 colors and trim levels.
We’ve already covered the CX-50 and CX-50 Hybrid trims and how they differ, so now we’re reviewing the exterior colors offered, including the limitations of paint hues depending on the selected model and trim.
See our guide to the new Mazda CX-50 colors, including a striking new paint hue exclusive to this model.
What Mazda CX-50 Colors Are Offered for 2025?
The 2025 Mazda CX-50 debuted with a familiar palette to previous model years, with popular and classic Mazda colors offered like:
- Jet Black Mica
- Ingot Blue Metallic
- Soul Red Crystal Metallic: $595 premium
- Machine Gray Metallic: $595 premium
- Polymetal Gray Metallic: $450 premium
- Wind Chill Pearl: $450 premium
The fresh new Zircon Sand Metallic returns on the 2025 model, along with the introduction of a brand-new paint option for Mazda exclusive to the new CX-50 gas-powered model.
Introducing Cypress: The Latest Mazda CX-50 Color
Cypress is the latest paint hue to join the Mazda SUV lineup, but it’s only offered on the CX-50 2.5 and 2.5 Turbo models thus far. It appears as a medium to dark green depending on how the light hits it, similar to other colorful Mazda paints like the range of warm tones of Soul Red Crystal Metallic.
The nature-inspired Cypress color certainly fits the CX-50’s rugged, adventurous persona.
For those cross-shopping various brands and models of crossover SUVs, this new Cypress color might seem reminiscent of another similarly sized model. That’s because the Toyota Corolla Cross also wears Cypress as an available paint color.
The fact that the Mazda CX-50 and Toyota Corolla Cross are produced at the automakers’ joint Mazda Toyota Manufacturing (MTM) plant explains why the CX-50 is the only Mazda to date offering the Cypress color option.
Even the fresh new CX-50 Hybrid, with its more limited trim lineup, is not available in the Cypress hue for its 2025 debut.
2025 Mazda CX‑50 2.5 Turbo Meridian Edition Colors
The CX‑50 2.5 Turbo Meridian Edition, with its sporty styling and exclusive features, is this model’s closest interpretation of the carmaker’s popular Carbon Edition and Carbon Turbo trims available on other models, like the CX-30 and CX-5.
Whereas the signature color for Carbon Edition models is Polymetal Gray Metallic – and Zircon Sand Metallic for the Carbon Turbo – the new CX‑50 2.5 Turbo Meridian Edition is offered with a choice of both of these paint hues exclusively.
Zircon Sand Metallic CX-50 SUVs
Mazda’s recently introduced Zircon Sand Metallic has made its way to the CX-50 lineup, but only in 2.5 Turbo trims. So, you’ll need to select from the following editions if you want your new CX-50 to wear a Zircon Sand Metallic exterior:
- CX-50 2.5 Turbo Meridian Edition
- CX-50 2.5 Turbo Premium
- CX-50 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus
The popular Polymetal Gray Metallic paint option sees far broader availability within the CX-50 lineup, as it’s now offered on all trim levels.
CX-50 vs. CX-50 Hybrid Colors
The recently introduced CX-50 Hybrid, with its Toyota-sourced gas-electric hybrid powertrain, is available in fewer editions than the gas-powered CX-50 SUVs, at three CX-50 Hybrid trims compared to seven CX-50 trims. It’s a similar story when comparing these two models’ exterior color options.
With the introduction of the new Cypress color, the Mazda CX-50 colors now total eight.
The more limited color palette of the new CX-50 Hybrid model includes the following six hues:
- Soul Red Crystal Metallic: $595 premium
- Machine Gray Metallic: $595 premium
- Polymetal Gray Metallic: $450 premium
- Wind Chill Pearl: $450 premium
- Jet Black Mica
- Ingot Blue Metallic
Final Thoughts on the New Mazda CX-50 Colors
What’s the best Mazda CX-50 color? Of course, that comes down to personal preference. But here’s our take on the available CX-50 colors:
- For outdoor enthusiasts seeking that all-terrain-SUV look: Zircon Sand Metallic or Cypress
- For a sportier, head-turning hue: Soul Red Crystal Metallic or Polymetal Gray Metallic
- For those who don’t love the look of black plastic cladding: hide it with Machine Gray Metallic or Jet Black Mica
- For a clean, classic look that still looks bright at night: Wind Chill Pearl
We still prefer Mazda’s other current blue hue, Deep Crystal Blue Mica, to the CX-50’s Ingot Blue Metallic, but the latter is certainly easier to keep looking clean.
